1998 Altima slow return to midle

Hello all,

I own a 1998 Altima that is a fine car but, now I'm having a new problem with it.

When coming to a stop after cruising 55 - 70 mph the idle will not drop to less than 1500 rpm until the wheels stop turning.

I own an OBDCOM and reaqd the ECM, it sets two errors, 1.) knock sensor & 2.) cannister valve is closed.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Paul

Other than cleaning throttle plate, checking for vacuum leak, false air leak (MAF?), there is a idle relearn procedure with a scan tool needed, not a code reader. You can make the car do the relearn by unplugging one injector untill the idle drops and the ecm will do the relearn. Then clear the misfire code. This sometimes works without scan tool. Forget any knock sensor code all Nissans have them it doesn't put the light on.
