Do you really want a Hilux (will have to be imported) or do you just mean a pre-Tacoma "Compact Truck" (which is what they were called in the States)

I think he's actually looking for an 85-88 truck since the body style changed in 89... as for the Hilux name that is the proper name for all Japan built compact trucks in the NA market they called it the Pick-up or Compact truck for some reason (as you know tc). I call mine a Hilux just to stop confusion with the Tacoma (shiver yuck).

Agreed, unfortunately, that causes confusion with US market (gas engine, IFS) trucks with world market (diesel, SFA, doublecab, etc) Hiluxes available in Canada, Mexico, and the rest of the freakin' world except here...

actually the truck (hilux) availability here in Canada was the same as for the US except we had the diesel 2LT available for one more year I think. No SFA no doublecab no diesel for us neither... I blame Toyota USA myself...

Actually, there might be some confusion...we can import the Japanese Domestic Market Hiluxes in now a lot easier than they can. Check out that link that I posted farther up. Diesel with solid front axles were available overseas, but not here, originally. But at least we can get them now, and for under $16000. And they can't!
