I previously had Michelin LTX M/S tires in the same size, and load range. I replaced those at 72,000 miles because the tread was getting a little thin for dealing with snow.
I have been very pleased with the Toyo's, they balanced with far less weight than the Michelins ever took, they are a tiny (emphasis on tiny) bit louder than the LTX M/S's, they have far better grip on all surfaces I've tried, and maybe most surprising, they ride noticeably better than the michelins did.

O2SE, I am seriously looking at the Michelin LTX M/S. How would you compare the M/S's with the Toyo's in the snow?

The Toyo's are definitely better in all the different types of snow that I have driven in.
Not too surprising I guess in that the Mich. LTX M/S tires are an all-season tire, and the Toyo Open Country A/T is an all-terrain tire with a more aggressive tread.
That's not to say that the LTX M/S is bad in snow, it's just not quite as good.
Another consideration is price, I got my Toyo's on sale at Les Schwab for $121.00 a tire last year.
LTX M/S's seem to be running around $175.00 a tire in the LT265/75R 16 load range c size.
It also makes me happy to support a Japanese tire company, instead of a French tire company.

I'm also trying to decide between Terra Grapplers and Geolanders so thought I'd give this thread another bump.
If anyone plans on taking advantage of the free shipping at www.discounttiredirect.com you better hurry, it ends at 5:00 mountain time.

I have a set of Nitto's in 295-75/16, great tires, much better than the BFG ATKO's they replaced. Smoother and quieter on the road, very grippy on the trail. Two of them only have one 3/4 ounce balance weight on them, not bad for a 56 pound tire!
According to a tire rep buddy of mine Toyo makes the Nitto's, they are very similar, his opinion is get whoever has the best deal between the two.

I also have the 295/75R16 Nittos. I have really put these tires to the test, and they have out done every BFG (mud and AT) I have every had. They are quieter, handle better and less expensive.....great tires.

i just checked their website and there is no mention of it ending anytime. if you buy wheels and tires at the same time from them they even mount and balance them before shipping them to you for FREE! they are going to be pissed if i go that route because according to their store they were going to have to piece together my set of wheels from all over the country.
on another note, i really want 17's, it may not make that much sense but it is just what i want and have had my mind set on for quite sometime. i have a pending deal on a set of 5 new h2 takeoffs, hopefully it will come through. i really think in the future you will see many more new tires for 17" wheels, so many vehicles come factory now with 17's.
if nitto made a 315/70/17 they would already be installed. i would get the toyo 325/75/17 but i can't justify their price and they aren't available.

I didnt see anything about it ending but called them just to be safe and was told it ended today at 5:00 mountain time. Maybe he thought I was talking about another promotion (don't know how he could) but thats what I was told.

well the store's promotions ended today, the stores were running a 6 month same as cash deal instead of their standard 90 day policy and they were also giving between $50 and $100 back on wheel tire combos depending on who you asked.
