Hi All -

went wheeling this weekend at the Cali 4runner jamboree in Johnson Valley this weekend. Had a great time out there, but the morning after, I noticed my truck leaning to the side, and a flat tire.

I would normally brush it off as just a flat, but this is the second one in about 4 months, in the exact same place!!! Right on the bottom part of the tread on the sidewall - not quite on the sidewall, but not quite on the tread... prolly can't get it repaired. (couldn't repair the last one)

Do I just have really crappy luck, or has this happened to others? Another $120 in the hole :pat:

Sorry to hear that, but mine are still in good shape!!!

Did you get any kind of roadhazard warranty with the tires. Just wondering if you could play dumb and get a free replacement. Sorry about the tire.

Perhaps next time you buy tires you should get some with a LT load rating, they might be more resistant to these sidewall punctures, though someone was posting here last week about almost the same thing happening with his BFG T/A tires which most likely were LT rated.

I am pretty sure that Revo's come in an LT flavor. How do you know that his were not LT-rated? I must have missed that part.

I don't know. Since ruizs didn't provide any tire specifications I can only guess based on the fact that Revos don't come in LT grade for a number of sizes. For example, there is not a Revo 265/70-16 in LT grade.

Well, you're doing a bit better than me! I've blown up two MT/R's in the past three months. Yeah, I know, not apples to apples, but a streak of bad luck for the both of us, nonetheless. Thankfully, I've been able to replace them both for $24 each.

A/T's can probably take a lot of abuse, but you never know when it will be their time to go. I like the added insurance of an M/T. I don't want to be changing tires all the time. I'm positive I woud've replaced more than just two over the past couple of years if I were running an A/T.

I punctured a Goodyear Wrangler AT/S with a twig one time. My BFG KO's faired much better during my regular desert beatdown's. They were darn near indestructable.

I know you asked about Revo's, but at least you have some reassurance that other people with AT's go through the same thing. I hate wheeling with AT tires. It makes me uneasy.

What is your definition of an AT tire, could you give examples?

I guess I used strange wording. Any "street" oriented tire with wimpy sidewalls really freaks me out. For some reason KO's gave me confidence, even though they are an AT tire.

My current Pirelli Scorpions make me nervous too.

I've been running the Revo's on my Tacoma and have had great luck. I've got the 31X10.50 and they seem pretty tough. I'm almost positive their light truck rated. The best snow/rain tires ever. Not the best offroad. I prefer my bfg mt's for that.
I've put about 20,000 on the revos on road
and maybe 80 miles offroad.
No probs yet.

The difference is that the BFG T/A KOs are all LT (Light truck) tires with a C, D or E load rating while many of the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo sizes, such as the 265/70-16, are not available as LT load rated tires but only in P(passenger) rating.

The LT load rated tires have heavier or extra plys on the sidewall which should make them more puncture resistant than a similar P rated tire.

Why do the BFG KO's say "All Terrain" on the sidewall then?

Pretty sure off-road ability and load rating are aren't necessarily tied together. Load rating should cover weight carrying capability (more weight, stronger tire), and the AT should mean that the tire kicks butt offroad.

Guys, thanks for all the replies - wasn't aware of the difference in ratings. I'll check them when I get home tonite. Do the Revo 265's come in both P and LT ratings, or only P?

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos are available in 265/75-16 with LT-C, D or E load ratings.

Doh! Just looked at the bridgestone site, and my size 265/70/R16 only comes with a 'P' load capability. Damn.
Like dcampen said, the 265/75 size comes with all the diff LT ratings. Guess I know now what my next tires will be.

And to anyone looking at buying Revo's, get the LT rating!

The LT tires have deeper thread. 16/32 inch vs. 13/32 inch.

Take a look at where you wheel. If you're in really rocky areas a lot you may need a heavier tire. We get really sharp rocks where I go.

I'm running 265/75 BFG TA KO with a Load Range D, which is 8 ply rating.

Next set I buy will have the Load Range E, 10 ply rating. The ride isn't that much worse and the extra protection when you're far from help is worth the cost IMO.
