32" tires with no lift?

Thumbs up 32" tires with no lift?

Hi guys, this is my first post. I recently purchased a 1993 Xtra-Cab and it was riding on some old dry-rotted 30x9.5x15 Bridgstone A/Ts. They are definite "may-pops". I was wondering what is the biggest tire I can put on it without any rubbing or the necessity of trimming. I know a friend with a 94 Xtra-Cab who has 31x10.5.15 BFG All Terrains. She says there is no rubbing. Another friend told me that I can fit a 33" tire. He never said how wide though.

I guess while I'm here, I'll ask your opinions of which tires would be the best. I have narrowed it down to:

BFG All Terrains
Pro Comp All Terrain
Pro Comp Xtreme all Terrain
Dick Cepek Fun Country II
Sport King Steel Radials
Sidewinder Radial A/T

My favorite of the 6 would be the Sidewinder Radials just because of the tread pattern but I read somewhere that they are not produced anymore. My second choice is the Sport Kings, just because they are cheap. I am on a high schoolers budget xD

I run 32 11.50 with no lift but I had to hammer the pinch welds

People say you can run 33x10.50's with no lift

But I would say 31x10.50 is the best without lift even with the 32's the gearing sucks

I run 33x12.5's with a 2 inch BL though.
But i could clear 35s right now if i had em!

Thanks for you guys help. It looks like both of you took off your front valence. But 22repower, since you are the one with no lift, did the 32" tires rub the valence or did you take it off just for a better approach angle? I don't want to take mine off because I want to keep it relatively stock looking. Bigger tires aren't really a necessity for me since it is my daily driver. I just thought that I could possibly get better gas mileage when running a taller tire due to the added circumference.

Welcome to YT man.

You'll be fine with 32x10.50's. Im running 33x10.50 NFG muds on the stock alloys and they are fine. I think if you run 33x12.50's, they will rub slightly.

But in your case, you should be fine with 32's.

My dad had a set of 33x12.5 Sport Kings just laying in the bed of his '72 Chevy. I bolted those up and they rubbed. Proper backspacing would have helped xDDDD I think I will look into 32x10.5 or 31x10.5 tires. I don't think I will go any taller or wider than that.

If your not too worried about big tires. Stay with 31x10.5s i ran 31x9.5s until i got my current tires and i liked em. i just wanted a beefier tire.
Plus i could really tell the difference in the gearing. i mean its not bad, 4lo just isnt as low and the truck is a little slower

I agree, I just want my truck to look beefier. xD The only time I would really need the bigger and more aggressive tire is during the winter months. I can't say the snow gets really bad in Maryland because it is much worse in alot of other areas. Other than the snow, I don't think I would be driving much offroad, unless I just get the urge to take a spin through the woods

Not the same generation, but I have 32x11.5x15 tires on my truck with no lift, cutting or hammering. No rubbing and I could easily fit bigger from what I can see.

I mangled the valence and took it off before I had the 32's so I couldn't tell you for sure

if you have a 22re and 410s I would suggest against anything over 31's
the 32's are rough on the gas mileage and made a very noticable power difference

I'm running 32x11.50s with no problem but I'm going to switch back to 31s when these wear out and put them on an 8" wheel to stick them out a little more which is the approach you might look at.

Nah, I have the 3VZ-E V6 (prefer the 22-RE, couldn't find a truck with one that's in as good as shape as mine). It has the stock rear end gears. I'm not really sure what ratio they are. I'll have to go look at the manuals I have

Well, I run 31x10.5x15 Maxxis Bighorns on my 94, no rubbing. No lift or anything special. The rear leaf springs are pretty worn as well, so my rear end actually sags quite a bit. So if I can clear 'em, you can too. Besides, those Bighorns have pushed my Yota through any and all terrain; snow, sand, gravel, you name it, they crawl through it.

Three year old thread bump...

It's so funny that this thread was my first post I jump on people who don't search and then ask questions that have been beat to death millions of times, yet that's exactly what I did. Oh silly, stupid, naive younger Shawn...*sigh*

In case anyone hasn't followed my build, I did end up purchasing a set of Sidewinder A/Ts off Craigslist...the aftermath about three months later:


So I bought a set of Sport King tires (college student budget). I've put about 26000 miles on them and they still have over 1/2 tread and do great in the snow

33x10.50 bfg at's or find some cheap 16in toy rims off of a taco or tundra. Run 235/85/16
there cheap and its like a 32x 9.50

I had a '91 4runner with 31/10.5/15 BFG A/Ts. Those were the stock tires. obviously no rubbing. I would imagine going one inch bigger in heigth and width would be alright. But that's just my wild imagination.

Thanks to this thread i think i know what tires i want for my soon to be rig. 32/11.5BFG M/T KM2
Its a good stout look and gets you across some puddles.
I would absolutely buy the original BFG muds if those sons of motherless goats didn't discontinue it. A sad day
