advice on engine swap 4 a 92 4runner to small block 305

I dont know wheater i should try to find and automatic adapter or new tranny or if the 305 is worth the hassle the power would be nice but reliability is a must off roading in Montana please help me iam lacking major funds for another huge project

That motor is absolutely horrible for offroading. I know a guy who had it in LC and it went no where. Either put in a toyota 3.4 or a gm 4.3 or 350 for that matter. STAY AWAY FROM THE 305. The 4.3 has more power than the 305
