L52 to w56 tranny
I've got an '83 4x4 5spd pickup. These were apparently not the best transmissions. Mine's about toast, and I'm looking to replace it cheap. There are more late '80s trucks around in decent condition, and they had better transmissions, so I'm seeing what it will take to get one in my truck. Any advice? Is is a matter of cutting driveshafts, or what? I can take out and replace about anything, but when it comes to mods and rebuilds etc., I start getting a little scared. Thanks!

We install 89 and up w56c's into first gen's all the time. The forward shift t case shifter found on those fit without cutting the floorboard, the cross member needs to be moved back and new mounting points made. The rear shaft will need to be cut and the front lengthened. The ifs front will work but doesn't flex as far. When its all done you will love it
