1uz in my jeep

i know this isnt a yota but its all yoda parts 1uz motor and its yota 8" axle getting upgrading to 9 1/2" axles
well if you have already read in my lst post about my jeep the 2.4 mitsubishi motor is toast. so in the quest for more power and me having all the big parts to do the swap im going with the toyota 1uz all-alloy 32-valve quad-camshaft V8. Wikipedia im not not big on typing or can i do it that fast. so i will try and keep you updated and a CAM in my pocket to get the pics. at the same time as this swap im putting in 9 half toy axles, doing tube finders. 32" inch coil overs.

here are the first run of pics. this is just the taer down, as you can see the 2.4 out, finders off, and core support, and 1uz out.

the engine fits with the normal 1uz problems with the oil filter and headers here are the pics of it in the frame

Ok got up to date info. I got the pilot bushing today so I was able to slide the two together for s fit check looks good. I had the bell housing shave by 12mm and making a 9mm adaptor plate for it. I had to order the 9mm plate I hope it is here by Wednesday. Did some real rough measuring looks like the tranny might bolt into the same mount. Im hoping so bad it does so I can use the drive shafts. Well that is were im at now.

its the stock cst iron tranny that was behind the 2.4 mitsu motor. being castiron hope it will hold up. T-case is a dana 18. flywheel is is out of a turbo mr2 my mistsu disk and the pressure plate will come out of a 2 ton toyota dyna truck if it is stronger than the truck one i have.

Ok I’m hoping to get my 9mm plate to start the adaptor plate in the morn. My ? is, do u guys think the stock 4spd will hold up? The v8 makes 260hp. I’m thinking yes cuz its all cast iron and it seems to be pretty beefy for only being 11" long. But time will tell. So what do u think?

it looks heavy duty, but who's to say? is it original to the jeep or did the mitsu set up come out of something else. i noticed the mitsu symbol on the front of the jeep...does that mean that this was a mitsu contract cj/mj-3b? we had the t-18 set up behind a ford v6 in our '47 cj-2a and it did very nicely, but you're pumping a lot more power into that sucker. do you know if it is the big shaft 18 or the small? who knows, you may be back in there swapping in some more toyota running gear. a couple toyota 8" axles, r151f tranny with the gear driven transfer case....who knows?

also, does the input shaft of the tranny mate to the motor? looks like it if your just gonna build yourself a 9mm plate. very interesting swap. can't wait to see if it all holds up.

Well as you can see I got a lot done this weekend with the engine install. It all fits under the hood and behind the radiator. The tranny bolts into the stock mount what a plus . The driver side header fits too. As you can see the oil filter is not going to work now, I need the other filter mount. Sometime this week ill get the motor mounts made and it all will come out to do all the welding. I hade to hammer the fire wall to make room, and I might cut and reshape it a little better. More to come.

wowza...looks good. its getting exciting! have you decided what you are going to use for a fan? are you going to remote mount the oil filter? that seems like it might be the easiest solution to that problem.

In case many who do not know about the Japanese Jeep here is some info:

I did not know about it until I seen his truck. So the only thing really American on the Japanese Jeep is the name.

well the d-side header is done just got to have the flange milled flat and sand blast it and panit. wasnt to bad to make the p-side is going to be the bad one i got less room. the runners are 1" 1/2 into a 3" collector into 2"1/2 exhaust pipe. if i got enough pipe left for the other side its only cost me $130 plus time

well im back at it ran into more problems.
Well went to mount the radiator today and found out that I still don’t have room for it and the fan . I’m back to the drawing board thinking of making the frame and body longer to run the auto tranny and, moving the whole core support forward to make it fit.
So I’m going to finish the headers send them off to have them jet hot coated, the other axles out of the other land cruiser and get the auto tranny. Pics to come on the cut up core support. How would you guys handle the no room for the radiator and the auto tranny too?

well it fits with the fan now had to cut out a cross member under the core support to do it but it’s in.

I had to bake the front bumper to hold the frame together before cutting the cross member out. it will get to clevis eye and a receiver hitch put in it

here it sets on 38.5x14.5 tsls
