stiffener plates

I am swapping a 3.4 from an auto 4runner into a manual tranns 3.0 4runner.

Since the motor is an auto it doesn't have the stiffener plates that bolt to the block and the bottom of the 5speed bell housing.

I tryed to bolt the 3.0 brackets to the 5vz block but they seem to be different, off by maybe a 1/8 inch from the hole alignment.

My question is should they work? How necessary are they considering they never came with the autos, and if i do need need 5vz plates, how do i get them?

Does anyone have pics of the plates? Because I swapped an auto motor to a manual 4 runner as well
and I didn't put the plate on the bottom of the trans bellhousing. I wanted to know if this is the plate everyone is talking about. Does it even matter?

I cant find a picture but to call them plates are probably not accurate. they are basically brackets that attach to the bellhousing and then bolt to the block along the oil pan bolts, but not using the oil pan bolts. Much larger.

Sounds like you might be referring to the inspection plate? Thin piece that is sort of a half moon that goes up into the flywheel area from underneath?? I did install this.

That is the one I was thinking of. I must have lost the one from the 3.0 cause the one I have doesn't line up with the bellhousing bolt holes.

I didnt have an inspection plate either. I think there are some brackets that may cover up the clutch. I have two stiffner brackets and one mystery bracket. Looks like it covers up the flywheel.

Did bolt up on my 96 block. It took some time to get both sides to align though.

My stiffiner arms bolted up for auto to auto. If you reused the 3vz bell housing then they should match up to block and bell housing.
