2wd 3.4 swap complete

I bought my 98 T100 ext cab 4wd 5 speed new, used mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 every change after the first. At 230,000 miles while playing i rolled the truck. Not needing another 4wd I found a clean 2wd 95 model 4runner with a blown 3.0 engine and auto trans. I picked the 4runner up for $400.00, it was sitting at a repair station for months and the owner wasnt able to buy a new motor.

To date my out of pocket expense is $600.00 total, after tags, a 65 dollar exaust repair bill, rad. hoses and a few wire crimps. I have been working on the conversion for a little more than a month during my free time. The T100 motor was kept up well by me, so I have not been afraid to spend a little money on a new body for it. Today was the last part of the ordeal, a trip to the Ins. agent then to the tag office and finally the muffler shop.

Spending the 25k ten years ago made this swap a bit cheaper than most im sure. This swap is verry easy if you are able to have the entire donor motor vehicle. The challenge with my swap was that i couldnt find a 5speed 3.4 swap to 4runner auto documented. The swap complete the tranny shifts manually (not a problem for me) the next wires to pin are for O/D and Pwr. not sure what to do for lockup yet.

List of items used

The T100 parts I kept to use are as follows:

1. throttle cable
2. mtr. mounts
3. dipstick and oilpan worked fine (no mods needed)
4. alternator
5. airfilter and mass air (mod needed to fit air filter housing on pax side)
6. P/S pump (used 3.0 hp line banjo bolt, cut 3.0 tab from line to fit)
7. a/c pump (the origional was missim=ng and prolly mounted differently)
8. hp fuel line (just rotate to pax side)
9. exaust crossover and manifolds (this may not work with 4wd but dropdown pax side is fine with trimming 2wd, without xfer case/driveshat to worry about. not to mention auto tranny setup. the muffler shop made a crossover below the tranny to origional exaust.)
10. one white plug inside right kick pannel (this contains wires for body / vehicle things like fuel pump and the like)
11. ecu and harness from engine (repin wires to match systems between body harness grey plug and white plug)
12. various vaccume hoses to make things work.
13. heater hoses (these were reversed follow the heater valve and swap as necessary)
14. i removed the battery tray from the driver side fender well (this requires removing the spot welds, a drill bit hole makes them go away and makes nice new fastner holes)
15. I havent hooked up tachometer or oil pressure im thinking of transferring these items from the insturment cluster because of the issues with compatibility.

Now things that can be used from the 3.0 4runner

1. radiator, fan shroud, clutch fan (the 3.4 fan is too big for the 3.0 shroud)
2. P/S lines and banjo bolt.
3. flywheel, torque conv. and transmission (the transmission will shift in all gears, i havent tried to make O/D and lockup or power work yet)
4. all the efi fuses and such on the pax side an stay put.
5. the origional hood fit after a section of support brace was cut out (after shutting the hood one small dimple popped up, but pressing down there was at least 1/4 in clearance)
6. I removed all the wires from the 3.0 harness that go to tranny and this harness also contains the starting circuit for 95 year model. ditched all the rest and routed the wires for use on pax side.
7. many of the wires that i repinned between harnesses i had to use like pins, most pins from either harness werent the same in length and fit size. both harness ends are handy to have.

The battery has to be moved to the driver side, i had an aproxamately 8ft section of 00 bat cable from another progect that worked nicely. I bought new ends and tied in right outside of the 3.0 efi box on pax side. The cable runs nicely in front of the rad. support to driverside. Tie this in with the 3.4 starter harness and battery after relocation.
Im not sure when the elec fan is supposed to run but im thinking prolly when the temp gets to a certian point or the A/C is turned on, but im thinking of adding a temp switch to make sure things stay cool in the summer. Also im planning on adding an external tranny cooler, I have a couple laying around from other progects.

If anyone has any luck with figuring out auto tranny inputs Id like to know, not really wanting to buy the controller from the dude who is closing shop in a month. I had a bud years ago that ran a transmission shop, he did all my transmission work. This dude ran a montecarlo with tranny that had a switch to make the lockup converter activate. I havent seen him in years and i know this can be done, but this is toyo not chevro. Im wondering what voltage on a momentary switch to use.

I have figured out alot thru the posts here and I have more pictures, if needed ill link or give what advice I can give.
