210 isnt too bad... i would replace the timing belt and water pump... but it sould be a good motor. the 3.4 5sp to a 3.0 5sp is easier swap than the more common 3.4 auto to 3.0 5sp... if it was me, i would say go for it... are you going to get the whole truck or are you going to get just the motor? i bought a whole 4runner and parted out everyhting... i ended up getting the motor for about free (i say about cuz it took longer and therefore i had more shop rent than if i just just bought the motor ready to drop in and didnt hvae to part out a truck first)
good luck and keep us posted..

I'll give him a call today and see if I can get a price worked out but he said he would deliver it to wherever I need it to go which is another bonus. I'll keep you all posted.

Another question I have would be the wiring. I have the FSM for a 1989 4Runner but mine is an 1988. Did they change much between the two years or would my 89 FSM be okay?

Well got that rolled Taco. It's sitting at my buddies garage as we speak. It had been sitting a while in the PO's backyard but the engine compartment was very clean and it still fired up on the first try and is still "drivable" though it wouldn't be very comfortable. The interior is another story but I already have some offers for parts out of it which will make this cheaper. I'll try and get some pictures up shortly before the swap.

Well seeing as you right here in town feel free to come by and check out my swap. I am not yet done but already did the oil sender swap, oil pan swap, oil pick up. Half way done the wiring. Seeing as you have the entire truck that will come in handy as that is what has stalled me considerably trying to piece together everything. Love to see some pics. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions.

I might drive down and check it out too if this is an "open" invite. I'm also doing the 3.4 swap on an 88 3.0 4runner. The part kicking my butt right now is the crossover pipe. I'm trying to fab one using the old 3.4 and moving things around a bit but I'm having a hell of a time getting it all lined up because when you're doing it outside the engine bay you're really blind as to whether or not it will clear the firewall/tranny/framerail!!!

Basically, it took two attempts, so I'll try to save you some $$. The first attempt I had, I tried to have them re-use the two flanges that bolt to the engine and the 2-into-1 collector at the other end. When I got the engine back and tried to drop it in, the 2-into-1 collector wouldn't clear the frame rail and firewall. There are guys who have done it, but in my case it wasn't going to work. So, I had to yank the engine out and drag it back to them to fix the crossover. On attempt number two, I had them build the crossover as tight to the block and where the bellhousing bolts up to as they could, but still allow clearance for the bolts, and get rid of the 2-into-1 collector and just use a standard 3-bolt flange. This second attempt fit beautifully into the engine bay and everything looked like it was made to go in.

I ran duals down each side of the block and bellhousing. The passenger side takes a 90 degree turn towards the drivers side right infront of the sway bar. I have a 2 into 1 connector where the original cat was and run the remaining stock 3.0 exhaust.
The best bit, it all cost $91! |

Yeah I will be doing the same running duals. I have a friend that works at a exhaust shop and I'm just going to let him do it. Oh and it is a open invite, you are welcome to come by anytime after August 8. By the way I have a thread on here which kinda shows where I am at as of now.
