Timing Chain and Guide Replacement
I have a 92 Toyota 4x4 with a 22RE. I have owned the truck since brand new. It has been a awesome truck! Currently the truck has 99K miles on the motor.
My question is: Is it time to replace the guides and timing chain?

98 Toyota Camry
You can see I am stuck on Toyotas!

Jrallan26 My opinion from others is to change it . The best decision is to go for the LCE double or single chain or DOA racing version. They both have the latest metal guides that would outlast the stock ones.

Yeah, I remember reading taking off the valve cover and with a flashlight you can inspect it. I knew mine needed replacin with 136k on it they looked like this:
As for the LCengineering and/or DOA racing guides.. Try ebay. They are alot cheaper there. I didn't have time to order some cause of the short schedual that me and my dad have to do things so I just replaced them with the plastic ones. I figured if they lasted 136k they will last another.
This post should be helpful too
