Routine Checks & Maintenance
For all you lovers of your 4Runners who are as anal as I am about keeping it running in top shape, I thought I'd post some info on when to check things and what to check. A lot of it is straight out of the Haynes Repair Manual:
Weekly:
-Oil level and condition
-Brake and clutch fluid
-Engine coolant
Bi-weekly to monthly:
-Tire pressure
-Windshield washer fluid
3 months (or 3000 miles):
-Auto tranny fluid
-Power steering fluid-
-I rotate my tires every 3 months (BF Goodrich All Terrain TA's) but most people wait for 6 months
-Check air filter
6 months (or 7500 miles):
-Battery condition
-Underhood hoses
-Check suspension and steering components
-Lube the chasis components (steering knuckle, slip yokes, u-joints)
-Check exhaust system
-Check transfer case and differential fluids
-Check idle speed
12 months (or 15,000 miles):
-Check driveaxle boots
-Check PCV system
-Replace the air filter (or clean and re-oil your aftermarket one)
-Check engine drivebelts
-Inspect fuel system
-Check brakes (clutch pedal, if applicable)
24 months (or 30,000 miles):
-Replace spark plugs
-Check valve clearance
-Replace the fuel filter
-Check spark plug wires and ignition system
-Flush and refill the cooling system
-Inspect and repack the front wheel bearings
-Change auto tranny fluid and filter
-Change manually tranny fluid
-Change transfer case fluid
-Change diff fluid
48 months (or 60,000 miles):
-Check emissions control system
-Check EGR valve
-Replace timing belt
Finally replace the oxygen sensor every 80,000 miles or sooner, depending on the road conditions you drive in.
Hope this helps.

You mean don't let it go more than 80,000 miles? The older they get the slower they are to react to changes in mixture.

For a 99 3.4L V6 4Runner 4x4, I was told by the dealership to replace the timing belt at 100k miles.
I might replace it now (60k miles) just because I'm doing everything else (plugs, belts, fluids, filters).
What do you all think?

Yes, I called and the master technician told me not to worry about the timing belt until 100k miles.
Since all the literature I've read (repair manual, online toyota maintenance schedules) mentions to REPLACE it at 60k miles, I question whether the technician heard the question correctly (since he seems to be right about other maintenance questions).
Anyways, I'm already replacing all the belts and fluids and it isn't much more work to replace the timing belt from what I've read.
Does the supercharger need any maintenance at 60k miles? Fluids?

Are you sure they said 100K????

Besides, the 3.4 is not an interference design, so breaking the t-belt doesn't cause engine damage. It'll just leave you stranded.
