Was just kinda crunching numbers, calling around and seeing who can give me a good deal on TG's front eliminator kit ( with a few modifications since i'm using an FJ62 AXLE ) and I came across this...

For those of you that didn't catch it. Its a front and rear kit, Which is why the price is so high ( its only 20 dollars more than TG's kit front and rear kit )

But what really caught my eye was the rear leaf springs.... 66 inches?! How much flex, and weight can those suckers handle?

But anyways, Before I called davez offroad to get a little more information on it, I figured i'd post it up on here and see what everybody thinks? I googled the kit instantly, and it doesn't have much of a result. So I really have no clue what it looks like on a truck. Im all about going with what is KNOWN to work. But I figured i'd research my options a little!

What's everybody think?

The front is just the typical TG stuff. Just FYI.

Stephen - Yeah I contacted Davez offroad about it. and he basically told me the front leaf springs, steering stabilizer, U bolt flip kits, axle truss, shocks & tabs, motor mount covers, brake rotors, brake line extensions, and the high steer is all TG. But the front shackle hanger, shock towers, shackles, and everything for the rear is theirs.

I have read and heard many instances of people having issues with the hanger and especially the shackles. Never heard anything bad about the shock towers.

I have a LOT of TG parts going into my front SAS coming soon but I am going with the Marlin hanger, and Davez shackles. Using TG shock towers since I already have them unless I find something that deters me from that. I'd be interested in what Dave had to say about the shock towers and why he substituted them. There doesn't seem like much to go wrong there.

I'd go with the Davez kit for those reasons alone and Dave is a good guy to work with!!

I wonder how much weight the 66" springs can handle? I heard a lot of people having issues with keeping tires on the ground in pick ups and 1st gen 4Runners with the top off and no rear bumper... but I think it'll flex nicely with the added weight of my permanent cab and my plated rear bumper, tire carrier, jerry can and hi lift.

I don`t know about the lift kits but I have had several good transactions with Dave`s

If I need more goodies!! the only down side is being on the other side of the country.

I've got a friend that used this kit, and it is built pretty well. I would suggest getting a quote from northwest off road for the springs though, other than that, Daves parts are quality.

Yeah. What are the 66" springs though? are they just lifted chevy springs? Im looking for something that can handle a lot of weight in the back without air bags... I basically will end up having a drawer system, roof rack, and possibly a military trailer someday. my stock springs with a 2" spacer handle the rear bumper, tire, jerry can, and hi lift... but barely.

Hit up northwest offroad then. They build custom springs for toyotas. They aren't cheap, but have excellent products.

Meh, I kinda wanna stay away from NWOR. customer service kinda blows.

I think im just gonna roll with the 66" springs and just upgrade my shackles as i need them to accommodate the weight

chop the top off your 4runner and have a soft-top made, then you won't have any more issues with the weight

Just to clarify a few things. Our kits use our leaf springs. TG kits will include TG springs. Our shock hoops are made from 1.5'' HREW .120 wall. We like the look and the strength. Thanks for the interest.

this kit looks pretty good, and 66".. wow. i got my 2" rear springs from NWOR ('86 P/U), they felt like they were gonna break my teeth out. had to keep 5 bags of thinset at the talgate just to stop the rear end from bouncing around. built some chebies and never looked back.

Exactly! thats what we did back in the day and we just improved from there. No two used stock stock Chevy's springs end up being the same height. They were getting expensive for used ones too.

Our 66'' require 63'' of mounting space if anyone wants to measure. Between shackle hanger center and spring hanger center.

You wouldn't happen to have any links or pictures of trucks with a complete kit on them would ya? I'd really like to see a 2nd gen. I've only found one first gen that I believe you did as a wedding gift for someone? or along those lines? im not sure.

How much weight can those springs handle? I have a pretty heavy plated rear bumper, and such.

Im planning on frenching the hangers and spring mounts into the frame to achieve a "low" SAS and have 35s look "big" on the truck. so feel free to put your opinion and what not out there!
