My dad is considering selling his 1996 FJ80
My dad out of the blue today told me he and mom are planning on selling the Landcruiser this spring. Mom got a new Acura MDX for Christmas, so the LC isn't really needed to haul people around or go on long trips. Plus, it's not very fuel efficient.
First of all, how do you deal with the grief of having a yota leave the family? We've had it for 8 years.
Second, my family keeps cars for very long periods of time (My 4runner was bought new). We haven't sold a running vehicle in 25 years, excluding mom's old buick that she just traded in, which technically isn't selling anyway. So what tips could you all give me on private sales? What things should we do to get it ready to sell besides cleaning it up really well?
Finally, if you or anyone you know is interested let me know. Basic info below
1996 Toyota Landcruiser
I6, Full time 4wd, Automatic, ~210,000 miles
Black exterior, Tan leather interior
Brand new 265's Cooper Discoverer AT3 (About 500 miles on them)
ETA: Apparently this is the only picture I've taken of it in 8 years.

Why not buy it yourself? I bet you can get a serious deal since its your parental units. Turn that 1st gen of yours into a wheeler and keep the FJ80 as a DD You'll thank me later if you ever have a family.

We don't have any interest in having kids, and I know I would have a hard time not wanting to build it into a wheeler too. I mean, it's already got a SFA... They do seem to be more expensive to build though.
