'97 tacoma 4x4, thinking about trading for a 4runner....

Just joined this forum - tons of information on here for sure! I'm thinking about getting a "newer" 4runner 4x4 - any suggestions as far as dos and donts.... thanks!

well as far as the 4runnr goes they stopped putting in the 5 speeds in 2002, thus i believe ruining the 4runner, if you do get a 2002 and below be sure and try and find a 5 speed

Yeah that's one thing about the 4runners... I would def miss the 5 speed. Do you know much about the reliability of the new 4runners? I've read lots of mixed reviews online lately.

i guess the reliblity would be about how well you maintained it, great if you take care of them, crap if your abuse them with no maintence, if anything i would get a trail team fj with a 6 speed, (if your getting new)

Thanks - I'll def look into that. After making such dependable trucks/cars for so many years I can't imagine spending that much $ and getting something that's not reliable from Toyota. I've had my current Tacoma for 10 years and it's been great. It's the reason I'm wanting a 4runner now...
