Which one would you want? I have a loaded silver FJ coming in about 3 weeks and the dealer says it has stock running boards on it. Should I replace it with a rock rail??

Square/round tube hybrid.
Both brands are sharp, and they will get them powder coated for you and ship them that way if you want.

I had spoken with All Pro about theirs as they were the first to come out with them I think for the FJC, but they will not get them powder coated for you.

Both of the two styles above bolt on just like the Toyota rock rails.
Eight bolts per slider.

Are you ever going to go off pavement??

If so, then get a set of rock rails (rock sliders) over running boards.

Period.

Now if you want to step on them to reach the roof, get an aftermarket set rather than the factory ones, because the factory ones are too tucked in to really be able to step on. As mentioned above, look at Demello, Bentup, All-Pro.

I have 3 questions about the sliders:
1. how much did you pay
2. how much was the powder coating
3. is the outside rail really slippery - could you use it as a step as is - or would I have to put somekind of non-slip material on them?

2. Power coating is around $89 to $100 more.
3. You can stand on them as is.

I would not recommend grip tape.
I used it on my 4Runner sliders when they had paint on them.
During the summer I live in shorts.
I had many battle scrapes on the back of my legs from getting in and out of the rig.

Took the sliderz back and Badlands had his powder coater guy sand blast the heck out of them to remove the grip tape, then powder coat them.

I would also do aftermarket sliders. THe factory ones are too close to the body period. Could still very easily incure body damage without pushing it too far.

Corey about the 3M non skid tape I put mine more towards the body instead of top dead center. No problem with shorts so far and it is shorts nearly year round here. It is a concern though.

I am also very clumsy too, so I bang into everything

Do you really need to put anything on them Are they useable as a slider/step with just the powdercoating?
Also, is powdercoating or just painting them with black rustoleum better?

Right now I have both the oem running boards and the rock rails. I need somekind of step to get into the vehicle; but I know that I need more protection than the running boards for off-raoding. I would prefer something that is duable either way. On my first fun to Big Bear, I smacked the bottom of the running baords and tore them up a bit.

Your thoughts?

Well considering I have stood on my powder coated sliderz for many years and never slipped off, they are fine to stand on.

As far as which is best for a covering, you know what I prefer.
But you gotta decide on which is best for you.
