Do I need new UC arms?

I have the OME lift on and i'm very happy with it. I did notice after installing it the steering wheel is now ever so slightly cocked to the left. Is this normal before getting an alignment? I have not noticed any wandering at highway speeds as some have indicated. Will I be able to get an alignment to factory specs with the stock UC arms or will I need All-pro's longer UC arms to bring it into specs? I figured i would wait 1,000 miles or so to let the springs all settle in before getting an alignment done.

On a side note I took it last weekend on some local trails. I went up a rather steep but short incline with such ease that a couple of lifted cherokees came over and were asking all about the FJ. One stated he tried the same incline and wasnt able to make it without getting up some speed. I was kinda shocked because it didnt seem too difficult. So I did it again with a little more speed this time and it really got some air, but it landed so softly it felt more like just taking a speed bump at a fast rate of speed. So then not to be out done one of the cherokees takes it again at speed and he must have launched the front end about 5 feet. It came down with a SNAP. Both u-joints on the front axle snapped.

I had to put on the Total Chaos UCAs with my OME lift as I got some wandering.
More info on that in my buildup thread in this section.

OME now does not list the 886 HD front coils for the FJ Cruiser.
They now list the medium 885 front coil as the new HD one.

I guess the reason is because the 886 would not allow a proper alignment.
However with my new UCAs, the alignment is dead on.

Glad you had a great time out showing the others how it is done

My mistake, I meant to say Total Chaos, not All pro. Corey, was your steering wheel cocked before you got an alignment done?

No, my steering wheel has always been straight after the OME lift and with the new UCAs on it.

Corey, when you put on your 285's did you have issues with tire rub against the UC arm? I just installed the OME with BFG KM2's and I noticed that my UC arms are only a finger width away from the UC arm. At full crank to the left I get rubbing and immediately goes away when I release it. Did you have these problems? Does the TC kit correct this?

Never had any rubbing with the stock UCAs, and not with the Total Chaos ones either.

Could be due to the offset of the wheels I am running.
We made sure at the shop that they did not rub before I left.

Have you heard of TOYTEC lifts?
He has plenty of stuff for the FJ including some Specialty Produsts/Light racing adjustable upper control arms.
Heres his FJ Page

Has anyone had the steering wheel shake with the OME lift? I just rotated tyres over the weekend (I've got BFG KM2's) and aside from breaking a lug stud (and replacing) I now get back shaking at about 40+ mph. It feels like I have thick heavy mud on the wheels. I figure though that I want to put in the TC UCA's and get the alignment/balance redone. Any thumbs up for this?

Cheers,
C

Exclamation Aftremarket Upper Control Arms

Hello,
I use the OME system with Toytec rear coils(a little softer) and I love it.The main reason I wrote was to inform you that it is imposssible to regain factory alignment specs.without purchasing aftermarket upper control arms, period. There is not enough adjustment to regain the positive caster.
I have the Total Chaos Version II (they did invent them), and the results were great. It now drives as it did when I bought it.
