chalk marks on transfer case and drive shaft
Hi All, I'm looking into a used FJ. I went and looked at one and I crawled under it and the transfer case was silver and the tranny was black (it was a 6 speed). And the transfer case and drive shaft had hand written chalk marks on them. Some number in red (188) and some other blue and yellow marks.
Does anyone else have chalk markings on their transfer case and is it a different color than the tranny? Could those be aftermarket or salvaged parts?
thanks in advance.

Could very well be salvage parts. Also if there are any chalk marks from the output flange to the driveshaft or other moving areas it could mean somebody has removed those parts.

What I really would like to hear is if someone else that owns an FJ could take a peek under their ride and check if they have the same stuff.
Even if it was a salvaged part, it should still match color wise I would think. It would have to be a toyota part off another FJ or taco.
Unless they used different color cases for the different models?
