Cracks me up when I hear stuff like that. No one in their right mind TODAY would EVER buy an FJ40. If you could pull a brand new 1983 FJ out the time machine and test drive compare it with a new ANYTHING, you would walk away and never look back. They were the most uncomfortable, rough riding, hobbyhorsing whiplash inducing, unstable, poor steering, rattly and clanky and drafty contraptions I ever drove. They are not that way today because they are old, they were Always that way. Oh and they got about 8 mpg and were slower than a Yugo. And yes, I drove them Brand New back in the day. I even nearly bought one of the last ones. They were almost worse riding than a CJ. They were however, pretty damned stout and didn't break easily, but then so is a John Deere tractor and I don't want to drive one of those every day either....
