I'm trying to hook up my autometer temp gauge and need to know what size wire to run. The instructions say it has to be protected with a 4amp fuse so I have my limit, I'm only going to be running the wire for no more then 3-5 feet so i was thinking I could use 20ga wire since thats what I have. What does everyone think is 20ga wire to small for 4 amps? My air/fuel gauge has 24 gauge wire and it says to protect it with a 5 amp fuse.

the 20 should be perfectly fine, all of my gauges on a previous vehicle (boost, fuel pressure, and oil pressure) all had 24awg from autometer.

email autometer. Im sure they could help you out... Or you could just wire in a fuseable link and stuck a 4amp fuse in there...

you'll be fine with 20 for sure.
make sure you fuse it though, don't want to blow stuff out, that's never good

^ Ditto. Just protect yourself from getting wires mixed up. Those gauges arent pushing any power through those wires under normal operating conditions.
