Turn signal wont work after installing led lights 1979 truck

I did do some searching and did not find much. So my problem is I installed some 2" round 9 led lights for the front turns signal on my 1979.The light on the dash will stay on. the rear turn signal will also stay on no flashing. The led itself will stay on but not flash. If i put the stock turn signal back on everything works just fine. I'm lost i cant think of anything else to do.

Problem is the LEDs do not pull enough current to make the flasher relay operate properly.

Three options:

1. Add a ballast/load resistor:
If you have a trailer connector, you can add the resistors to a trailer plug and then just plug them in. (I did this for a while on my 4Tunner)

2. Modify the flasher relay:
I also did this for a while on my 4Runner.

3. Install a heavy duty, solid state flasher relay that works with any sort of lamps (I did this on my VW).

i'm believe what you're experiencing is the older relays would stay steady on when voltage draw was lower than normal, so you'd be aware that a bulb was out.

most cars have relays that flash twice as fast when the voltage draw is low, for the same purpose but still providing a blinking signal.

universal relays are available that don't care about the resistance, and blink the same rate regardless of the load on them. that's what i'd recommend for you, and is #3 suggestion from R.C. above.

google search should be easy to find, or just hit up a decent parts store.
