starter relay location
I have a 91 22re 4 runner with starter issues. starter works when u apply voltage to it. so its an issue with the relay or ignition switch it self. any ideas on where the starter relay is at? its not in the fuse block or on the passenger side fender or drivers side. and i didnt see it behind the glove box. any help. thanks

Not all Toyotas have this starter relay if I remember correctly. So it's either starter solenoid or the ignition. From 4Crawler, here's a place to do some investigating.
Hopes this helps.

In '89 only the manual transmissions had a starter relay and it is located on the passenger side fender sidewall, back towards the charcoal canister. This is a link to the '95 and it shows it located in the engine compartment fuse/relay box behind the battery. file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Rich/Desktop/Toyota.4Runner.1990.1995/Toyota.4Runner.1990.1995/FSM/toyewpdf/vfewdsou/1995/954runne/relayloc/relayloc.pdf
I have attached a photo from my paper '89 FSM also.
Should be in one of those locations. On the '95s both manual and automatic trans had the relay. Don't know when they changed it, though, because I just have the '89 and '95 manuals.
If you have an automatic then you may have a problem with the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Try jiggling the shift lever and also try starting it in neutral as opposed to park.
