cooling fan switch?
i set out to find why my temp guage was messing up and my buddy said that the switch thats on top of the thermo housing was the switch that controlled it. so he unplugged it and asked if my guage went dead and i said no. then the switch wire broke. so now i have a switch that im not sure what it does and its broke. i did research and found out its called the cooling fan switch. i can find the piece that bolts into the housing but not the piece that plugs into that. does anyone know what the top piece is called? or what the switch does? and no i still have not found the guage switch to find out why thats not working. not even in the manual

What engine? Sounds like a 22RE. If so, on top of the t-stat housing are 0 or more sensors/switches. One for A/C, shuts it off if engine is overheating. One is for A/T, shuts off O/D until engine is warmed up. One is for turbo, cuts boost if engine temp not right as I recall. Gauge sender is on side of head, near the #3 cylinder intake.

i found the guage sender. i think i fixed it, it seems to work and not lose power. the bigger plug i was talking about is on top of the housing and its a white plug that snaps in. it must bolt in cuz it has a hex to unbolt it. if that helps..
and yes its a 22reC
