Charge light problem

Hey guys, hoping you can help me debunk this little mystery. On a recent drive the ring terminal on my alternator post burnt up causing the charge light to come on and no charge to the battery. The alternator was still working however (recently purchased)..no biggie, there was another post on the alt which puts out the same voltage as the burnt one, so with a newly crimped terminal and nut I resolved the charging issue. I get the 13-15v at the battery and everything seems to be fine EXCEPT... the charge light does not go off. Not once did both the brake and charge lights come on together, nor was it intermittent when it cooked, only the charge light went to full on. All fusible links appear fine, the voltage regulator seems to be working (proper charge at battery), and I've tried disconnecting the green wired plug for the charge lamp relay -PS under glovebox- (to see if it would make the light go out) but no change. Fuses are all good too. Only residual symptom (aside from the light) is that now there's a slight alternator electrical whirr through my stereo speakers when the stereo is on. Might be unrelated but am I missing something?? Thanks
