Surco Safari Roof Rack
I was thinking of getting Surco Safari Roof Rack for my '05 4Runner. I like the design, price (!!!) and versatility. I'll be adding light, shovel and maybe tire fixtures there. The only thing which I'm warring about is fixing this rack on my stock rails with OEM cross-bars. I looked on this forum and couple others, but can't find the exact answer on the following question: Is it going to fit my cross-bars and what type of fixtures I need for this. I know that some members fixed it on THULE or Yakima cross-bars, but what about stock ones?

i never figured out how to use the stock bars.. and i tried and tried... if youre going to get a surco, get the EXACT size you want. Surco makes them in anysize. You can get them from summit racing i think. I really like the full length look... i think it would be like 45x70

I was thinking to get 45x60. I might try using THULE adapters. As far as I know THULE makes oval crossbars which are similar to my stock ones. The main reason for the rack is look; hold extra lights, shovel and spare. The guy whose picture I’ve attached got 45x50. I think it’s a little bit small.

when i contacted summit racing, they said you could get it in any size... but that was about 3 years ago... they might have changed policy. what is the length of your rails?

On the image I attached, silver 4Runner has 45x50 rack. I looked this way. 45x60 will be 10" longer, so should fit better. I'll measure the rails tomorrow.
