Alright, aside from the obvious durrability issues of being made of all cast steel parts in the most expensive Hi-lift, would I be all that disappointed/stupid if I was to get the less expensive cast/stamped steel Hi-lift? Just curious if it's worth the money difference.

Wait for the release of the new "Extreme" Hi-Lift.

I got the 48" Red, but I'm going to upgrade to a 60" eventually. They are both rated the same as far as loading, so it seems like it is a personal preference of color and price.

I have known people who have had teh stamped ones bend on them. I would say it is worth the extra bread to get the all cast one.

I can only get the cast/ stamped ones locally at Northern Tool.

Same here Eric, that's why I asked, otherwise I guess I'll just suck it up and order and all cast one online. Brian says find a local 4WD shop, but that seems to be non exsistant around here, I might have to head up to Boone or down to Charlotte to get one w/o shipping.

Me too.

We have a 4wheel parts in Charlotte, I'm just not sure if the drive with gas prices and the time (2hrs round trip) is worth saving on shipping.

I don't know when the new "Extreme" is supposed to be released, but I have pictures that I got from Scott Brady (4WDTO) who went to one of those big shows out west and it was out there...supposedly to be released soon. That is all I know.

Good Times

The new Hi-Lift Jack is an All-Cast Hi-Lift Jack with a dark metallic gray finish instead of the standard, bright red finish. The handle features a gold zinc finish instead of the standard black. The base is secured with a clevis pin with spring-loaded detent instead of the standard cotter pin. The differences appear to be cosmetic and the working load limits and features of the Extreme appear to be identical to those of the All-Cast Hi-Lift Jack. There is, however, one critical difference between the All-Cast and Extreme models. Replacing the top clamp on the Extreme is a new device similar in concept to that of the JackMate.

Tractor supply, local auto supply (not autozone, a mom-n-pop shop) local ace hardware. Buy the cast, mine is 12+ years and 6 trucks old

I bought a cheap one once at Atwwod's (farmer store) and it actually fell apart. I think it was around $25

I bought cast version (60") about 20 years ago from JC Whitney. It still works like new, even after spending most of that time hanging off a bumper on one truck or another.

Stump...I live in High Point too. I think Tom's 4X4 down in Lexington carries High Lifts. About 25 mins. from High Point. Take 52 South towards Lexington and get off at the Hwy. 8 exit. It'll be right across the street...

The only opinion I have is get the 60". I boutgh a 48" from our loacl TSC - tractor supply place and my truck is all stock but 32" at's and it only lifts my truck 4" off the ground - which is fine for now, but not later.... my $.02

humm thats my consern. i got money this year for christmas to buy a hi-lift (and whatever else i can get for under $200 shipped) and have been debating between the 48 and 60. i plan on putting it on the side of my Load Warrior who's demintions are 44x39. i think a 5 foot hi-lift would look funny up there.

But the problem is if your suspension is too highe and or really drops when jacked the 48 may not be enough....

I was looking at the same thing last summer.

Get the 60".

The difference between the Stamped and cast is in the base, top clamp and 2 other parts not affecting the load. They both have the same load rating.

I have used it to lift the front of my truck out of a mud hole to push it to the side, used it as a winch, pulled fence posts.

I bought mine at Sportsman's Warehouse. They are in the camping section. You may have to ask for it. I paid $45 for the stamped 60", the 48" was the same price.
