Fogs or Driving Lights?

Whats more benficial to have, fogs or driving lights? I continually see many offerings for lights, most notably ones that seem to have a dual low nice radius beam and a more pencil high beam such as the PIAA 525's. Is this a combination fog/driving light or just a dual beam type light b/c I see they offer them in somewhat of a amber look they call "plasma ion".

If someone wouldnt mind taking the time to answer b/c I already searched this tons of times and got no real info on this.

Basically I wanna run a set or perhaps 3 lights (2 fog and 1 pencil?) so I dont have to run more than 1 set all together. Mostly for the clean look and the fact if I can get by with less its better.

I prefer fog lights (only) myself. In fog or poor visibility, nothing beats a good set of fogs. For "driving lights", I turn on the high beams plus the fogs and it makes a good setup.

Note that there's a BIG difference between what some people call "fog lights" and true FOG lights.

Just being amber doesn't mean it's a fog light. True fog lights have a VERY sharp cutoff so none of the light goes up and reflects back to you off the fog. Below that cutoff, the pattern should be very uniform and very wide.

Pencil beams are usually only good for driving fast in relatively good conditions.

Fogs all the way for me...
