difference between transmission flush VS fluid change?
Is there a difference between a transmission flush, and a fluid change? The saleseman suggested it might be a good idea to give the tranny a flush every 50,000 km.
Is there anything else above and beyond one can do to maintain a transmission?

i would call a fluid change ... pull the drain plug, let it drain, fill it back up.
a flush would imply that you changed more than just the fluid in the pan, meaning you pumped/flushed out the cooler(if it has one) and the torque converter.

The fluid change is where the drop the pan, remove the old fluid, clean the pan, and then refill. This way, there is still some old fluid in the torque converter but not much. Theory has it that if you change regularly, this would be a good way to go.
If you have a ton of miles and the fluid has not been changed, people have claimed that flushing the system could cause more damage than good, assuming your tranny fluid is burnt.
If you're asking for a truck, go with a tranny cooler. For an Accord, the fluid change should be sufficient.
