Transmission diagnostic 95 4runner

Hello,

There seem to be conflicting opinions on whats wrong with the transmission of my 95 4runner. Solenoid, speed sensor, complete rebuild. I heard that a computer diagnostic will pin point where the problem is, and i was giving a quote of $220 plus tax to do that. Do you guys think that is a good price?
It seems that my transmission doesn't down shift, so when i come to a complete stop and try and go.. it revs up before it kicks into the proper gear.

Thanks a lot

How many miles since the last time you dropped the pan, changed the filter/fluid? How does the fluid look, dark and dirty?

Before spending a lot of $$, I would try some Lucas Transmission Fix. I put it in older transmissions even if they don't have any problems just because it cleans out the valves and it also helps stop slipping. Very safe product.
