Timing issue 1989 22RE advice.

I have a 1989 Toyota p/u 22RE 4X4. It had a timing issue and I wanted to share how i was able to resolve this issue.
For the past six months have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to get my truck 5 degrees BTDC. I replaced my timing chain, messed with my distributor countless times... Until I talked to an old Smog tech. He adviced me that the the TPS was my problem, if the TPS is the truck will think it is driving down the road VS at idle. So I replaced the TPS, adjusted it to Spec, adjusted my distributor and idle screw to spec. Bam!!! Truck runs 100x better and it is at 6 degrees BTDC.
Just a helpful hint.
