455 is not bad if it includes the lift. They are not really hard depending on the springs. You may need to relocate your hangers, which would take welding. I know that the 3 and 4" lifts can be installed pretty easily, but you are looking at a few hundred min. just for parts.

Post more details and you'll get more help.
What brand of lift is it?
How many tools do you have?
What is your goal with a 5" lift in the first place... as there may be other options that work better and will run cheaper.

What did you expect it to be? Free? $100? Those kits are a PITA and take at least a full day of labor without running into any issues on an old vehicle.
That quote sounds cheap to me. I wouldnt bother with one for less than $500 or more. An extra set of hands would help.

I have to agree thats cheap but if you want I can get you a quote for what we can do it for I am in So. Maryland if you decide to go for it.
At $65 an hour and most shop are around $85 an hour your looking at $520 just in labor so $455 is pretty cheap

That's very cheap.
However, as other's have stated, if you want to make full use of this BBS and our collective experience, tell us what you want to do with the truck so we can at least see if that lift is really right.
Yes, you can install it. It is a LOT of work, I installed my 4" kit (trail master) on my last truck. If you haven't done it before, which I hadn't, set aside the whole weekend and have a back up ride for Monday just in case you aren't done. Or, just work for like 16+ hours straight if you, and your friend, have the stamina. We did that and were hurting the next day but at least the truck was at the alignment shop at 9:30AM Sunday morning.
