Newbie with "getting started" questions.
Hi everyone. I'm the soon-to-be owner of an '84 4x4 x-cab with 81k. I'm new to the toyota world and was wondering if anyone could offer up any advice on things to undoubtedly check and/or replace with the current mileage and age. The owner doesn't have much history as far as maintenance done by the previous owner. He's only used this truck slightly since owning it, as he mainly bought it to help with the moving process a few years back. He says that he has replaced the cat since he's owned it and that's about it. I've read through several articles saying that the timing chain(s), guides, headgasket, water pump, and main seal should probably be tended to, for starters. I'm crossing over from VW, so I do have some experience with picky maintenance and do-it-yourself repairs. I'll do a full-on intro once I take posession of said truck. Thanks in advance for any guidance offered. I appreciate your time.
