my starter problem....:(

Hey,

Ok. So I was having starter problems, you know the 'single click' every now and then.So after searching,I decided to change the contacts and plunger.Did that, and it was running good for a while, starting every time. Then recently it started acting the same way. Got my battery checked, and it turned out bad,so I replaced that. CARS STILL ACTING UP.everytime it does that'one click,I can here like a low electric motor trying to turn.

checked the wires.replaced the positive terminal. Starts everytime I get a jump. It doesn't even need to charge,it will start as soon as you connect the jumper cables. Any help?

All the threads I searched through, seems like the contacts fixed their problem, but I did,and same problem.

Thanks in advance

Try checking your battery cables, most specifically the ground.

Quick test to point you to the source of the problem:

Thanks for the link.

Yea,I checked the wires. Ground wire didn't look like it had any corrosion in it.the positive terminal accually snapped apart,so I changed that.

Looking is one thing, but measuring the actual voltage at the solenoid terminal, while under load, will tell you what is going on. Easy enough to make up a little test pigtail (like below) and that will let you measure the actual voltage that the solenoid is seeing when you turn the key:

If you are getting much more than about 1/2 volt drop from the battery at the solenoid, start looking for the source of the drop. There are quite a few wires and connections between the battery and the starter:

Might be, or $2.99 is not bad. Might have to pick up a few more, not worth replacing batteries at that price!
