Help! Torsion Bars?
I have a 86 4Runner I am in the middle of changing the control arm bushings. I need to release some pressure from the torsion bars so I can get the control arms off. So this is a totally stupid question to maybe some but I am totally stuck.
I have tried and tired to get both the back bolts on the torsion adjustment to release. Is there some kind of trick? I have the strongest air ratchet on this thing with a wrench on the back side and I still can not get the backing bolt or the other one loose. The torsion adjustment bolt does turn freely but I am not having any luck getting the thing loose at all. I checked the threads and they are not reversed so I am at a loss for words. I am heading out there with some WD40, maybe that will do the trick because 180psi air ratchet sure didn't help at all. Any tips here guys?
Here we see the top backing nut and bolt
Here we see the bottom torsion bar adjustment bolt. It turns freely as the top backing nut and bolt turn with it, HELP! LOL
Thanks guys for any help you can offer. If the WD40 works out then I will officially post up that I am a total nerd haha.
