First time 4 wheeler.

I am new to offroading and have been wanting to go out for a while. I have a 1999 4runner sr5 4wd with the 3.4 v6 and auto trans. Every is pretty much bone stock right now. What would i need to get on my rig just to start going out and running it. Any advice?

Nothing really just get out there and have fun while being safe and smart. I would invest in some good tires and a locker though.

Here's what you need:

- recovery strap
- full tank of gas
- camera
- good attitude
- a buddy

Take it easy, stay off the big rocks until you get some armor (sliders, skid plates, bumpers, etc) on that thing!

Just take some type of recovery gear and a camera.

When i first started i had NOTHING to take with me and was broke so could not afford to purchase anything.

an old forest ranger friend told me that with enough time a shovel could get me unstuck no matter how bad it was...

It's true 3rd time out I got stuck pretty bad (slid sideways into a big ditch over 6ft deep) It took me and 3 friends 6 hours of digging to get me out... next morning I decided that i could probably find enough money for a yank strap.
