IMO mostly so you can have a normal 2.28 low range reverse. Instead of bein stuck in super slow reverse. Unlike forward were you can always use a taller gear.
And with duals one case can be 4.7 and the other one 2.28 for a super low almost 7 to 1 ratio.
Duals just give way more options. Sometimes 4.7 is to slow but 4hi is way to high. So the factory low range is nice to keep.

Edit: missed that bit about the 4.7 low being too low, that's understandable.

But you can have 3 different low range option whenever you need them. You can literally shift between 2.28, 4.7, and 6.??. Come on,,,, thats pretty cool. More gears then a semi.

Yes reverse does kinda suck, duals do give more options but I think cost wise 4.7 single case is the way to go if you don't plan on duals in the future, if I get into a situation where my 4.7 is too slow and 4hi is to fast, I can always shift up all the way to fifth gear without any bogging and plenty of speed.

Ya and no driveline mods. The single case with 4.7 is awesome for the price.
Be neato if you could have a lower first and reverse so you could use 4hi on some of those more open trails. But now I'm just being picky. Low is low.
