I've searched and found lots of info about them, but not the answer to my question. I'll try to keep this breif:
I've got an 87 pickup with the stock springs on it right now. It is not my DD, and I rarely have anything in the bed, so I want something a flexier without more lift. I was wondering if I ran 2 inch lift springs in the rear but didn't transfer the overload leaf, would they settle out to little or no lift? I read on here about someone running 3 inch springs (without load leaf) and they settled to about 1-1.5 inches of lift. Does this seem to make sense or will I just destroy a set of springs? I'm open to other suggestions as well. Would AAL be a better option?

Oh yeah, about the most weight I will ever carry is either a Raptor or Banshee, so a max of 400 lbs.

I personally would recommend choosing anything but a downey spring pack. I dont have experience with any other downey product, and have heard good reviews about other products, but concerning springs, they just never worked. I have several pics of bent downey springs I used, and have talked with several downey employees. Over the course fo 3 months we never could get springs to work right or not self-destruct.

Oh, that sucks. Hopefully the ones on a buddy of mines Taco will survive.

One thing to note, all of the problems I experienced were on a 4Runner, and most of the problems thier techs mentioned were on 4runners as well... It was believed to be a weight issue. They mentioned, but I could get confirmed, that the same springs designed for pickups they were using on 4runners which have a slightly heavier rear. Plus I run mine fairly loaded, about 350lbs cargo and 300 lbs people over the rear axle. If the springs are being used on a pickup which doesnt see a lot of weight while in high stress situations, it might be alright.
