so the last coulple time i've gone wheelin i have been burning oil on the trail. it seems to only happen after being off camberfor a while and then leveling out or at the end of the trail.

i've been told something about walve seals and also that i might have bad rings. any help is appreciated im ok with mechanics but still learning

what color smoke thick white or light foggy blue tint?

when i got my 1st gen p/u it smoked white and the guy i got it from told me the engine was recently rebuilt. i thought yah yah hes just pullin my leg but when i pulled the valve cover you could eat off of it, no joke lol. Come to find out they used crappy valve seals. luckily i was able to pull do it with out pulling the head. but if its blue smoke you need new rings.....

it looks white in the video. its from my friends phone so idk how to post it. i'll pull my valve cover off later when im working on it. it runs fine otherwise though and my pressure is fine. it has only done it on the trail which is what im confused most about.

thanks for the replies guys

a compression test will tell you more. That would be the first step to start to diagnose your problem. Pull the plugs and take a look at them while your at it as you're going to do that any ways for the compression test.

that looks like water to me. But how is that possible when it's only after and/or during off-camber. Weird. Subscribed as I am curious.

so. compression test results are as follows

#1-175psi
#2-160psi
#3-175psi
#4-175psi

i might have bumped the release valve on the second one. was gonna re-do it but it started raining. these results are also dry. didnt do a wet test yet.

My old 4runner did the same thing last time I took it out. I have since sold the truck but kept the engine for a new project.

Keep us posted on what you find out.

if that's the case 175 is very very good for a dry test, IIRC it's actually a little more then spec.

Specs are listed in the FSM.

x2 this is odd. Is the "smoke" coming out of the exhaust pipe for sure or could it be something spilling or splashing like the overflow tank from the radiator?
I would almost want to find a steep hill and slowly ramp up it and then down to find out what's going on.
