Battery and Brake lights flashing
I pulled up to my uncles house tonight with quite a loud sound from under the hood. Barely got home, and blowing steam when I popped the hood. On my way the battery and brake lights were flashing. There was a bath of coolent under all over the front of the engine. There was no previous warning or anything.

The lights flashing could have been from a wet alternator belt or coolant on the alternator itself.
Did your engine overheat ?? Did a hose break ? Water pump failure ?? This would account for a loose belt
Did you blow a head gasket ??
If nothing is real noticeable and you didn`t just fill the radiator (air pocket)
You thought a loud noise under the hood was no reason to look under there and check.
If you drove this home and got it hot the temp gauge only works if water is flowing past it.
If you didn`t have a blown head gasket you will now if not soon.

According to the gauges it didn't overheat, I believe it must have been a head gasket. Workin on it today, an will find out for sure.
