I'm running 33"s with 4:88's with an SAS, plan to step up to a metric equilevant of a 34" on either 16 or 17 inch rims.

Rodded cat? is that a gutted cat? if so i might do that but it depends on how much it would cost me to buy one to gut out. cuz i plan on keepin my stock exhaust together in case i have to smog it. which is unlikely.

how does the engine handle the 33's with the 4.88s? that might be a better way to go for me.

I rodded it out just because it went bad, its Xmas time and money is going elsewhere plus no emissions till next Nov so I got time. Will get a nice high flow one day.

33s with 4:88s is nice very doable. Usually my DD plus weekend warrior when I can wheel.

I love Summit's customer service and tech support. I don't know where else you may find one cheaper. I only have ran a Pacesetter header to compare it to, ease of install and nice gains. Still a 4cyl but nice. Can say how much the header gained me as a cam was installed same time. Some really like the 4to1 style header like LCE or Pasesetter but the tri-y is no joke. Tri-y is suppose to be more for the lower end where our trucks thrive. 4to1 is more to the higher end like track.

Ok gotcha. My county doesnt smog unless on transfer, so I shouldnt have to worry bout it unless they change the rules, which wouldnt be for a long time. So like i said im just not gunna put one on my exhaust system when i build it.

What would you compare the your set up now with the tires and gears? would you consider it close to stock power wise? or what?

do you have a pick and pull near you? i noticed that youre lookin for a windshield washer reserve and i was in pick and pull today and all the yotas there still had one. just for future reference.

ok then ill buy the header from summit, like you said ive heard nothing but good things about summit, a budy of mines dad completely build a 5.0 mustang from summit parts and had no complaints about them.

I like the idea of the of the lower end power from the try y so that is my header of choice.

Thanks for the heads up on reserve bottle. Seems all my free time lately is consumed by family, job, or a mechanical issue on my 4rnr.

Can't really compare to stock my 4rnr had 33"s with 4.10 when I got it. If you regear and plan to wheel put a lock in at the same time. The traction benefits are huge.

You sig says "hope to SAS with 31"" you should skip the 4:56's an SAS rig sits much higher than a SA truck with similar lift springs. I tried to keep mine as low as possible with 4" allpro springs and I could easily clear 35"s. My buddy has 37"s on a similar set up Drew303 runs 37"s on a similar setup too. If I was to do it again I'd probably planned on 5:29's but hind site is 20/20.

ya no prob. you can prob get them real cheap too. or even just walk out with one and put it in your tool bag.

oh ok gotcha.

a buddy of mine did a sas on a 91 it has the stock springs from the donor truck and he had to put 3 inch blocks in the back. it looks ok with the 31's but he could easily clear 33's. if i did the sas id deffinately lock the rear end, but i dont plan on runnin gears that low, i wanna keep this a daily driver and get decent mileage. so i think 4.88 with 33's would be a good choice

If you wheel and plan to regear definately search "lockers" I've ran an autolocker on mine as a DD now have a selectable in the rear but that was a gift to self and the right price Have driven an autolocker cross country and downtown streets really not bad. Just food for thought.

i was thinking maybe a detroit locker in the rear, im not sure yet though, i havent looked that far into it.
what kinda gas mileage do you get in your truck??

I'm running heavy aggressive tread mud tires and was averaging 18-20. Recently did some engine work and build told me the valve seats were showing signs of excessive exhaust pressures thats what lead me to gut the cat out. Don't have an average since the work.

When I was swapping out a set of BFG A/Ts for daily driving I was getting 21-24mpg

Mixed, I live very close to where I work so my mpg suck if the only driving I do is to work. Like a mile from the house, but never know when I will need to drive somewhere during the day so walking or a bicycle isn't practical.

what are you using for the intake on your truck? is it efi?? or is it carb?

EFI with a powerade cloth mesh air filter and supra AFM. Have a supra throttle bottle to modify and install. Really running out of upgrades for the motor without going aftermarket fuel system and still passing emissions well with a cat reinstalled

haha i know what youre saying bout emissions, but like i said my county doesnt smog so im not gunna worry bout it for now, and when i swap carbs its not gunna pass smog anyways so most of the smop equipment will be comin off anyways so its not in the way anymore lol
