86 Toyota Coil Help

Can anyone tell me how to determine what is the negative and positive side of an ignition coil. I have looked for markings on it but i cant seem to find any. i may not be looking in the right places. i have a 1986 toyota 22r. thanks

There are two wires going to the coil, one brown and one black (i think that`s right) the brown wire is hot wire (12 volts) and the black wire is ground.

i just put my motor back in after a rebuild and now i have no power goin to the coil. everything worked before i took it out. im going to try to run a wire straight to the coil from the battery. anyone know how i would go about this?

Are you sure everything is hooked up right ?, have you checked your fuses ?.

im not 100% sure everything is hooked up right. this is my first time doing anything like this. its very possible im missing something. thats why i was just gonna try and hook it up directly to the battery.
