Here' another option too, check out eastcoastgearsupply.com. You can buy an entire custom 3rd member with whatever ratio you want and while you're at it, you can have them install a locker of your choice also. They send it to you and once you install it, you send them your old 3rd back in the same box for a core refund.

sry dont mean to jack ur thread but im currently running 285/75/16s and might go up to 315/75/16s and so my friend who has a tahoe told me to go with 4.56 gears if i go to 315/75/16s but id thought id ask some of u guys that know more bout 4runners. I only plan to regear if i go up to 315s and this is my daily driver and i do about 80% if not more of my driving on the highway. I was thinking bout 4.88 gears but im not all that sure... also where and which brand should i get?

4.56s for a V8 Tahoe on 35s probably works out good, but I think 4.56 is a little weak for 35s on a 4runner. 4.88s at least, I'd go w/ 5.29s if it was me. Just out of curiosity, why do you want to run 35s on a DD?

I am bouncing some of the same questions around.
First let me explain my ride.
1985 4Runner SR5 22RE...and as of now (for a very short period of time might I add) it's stock...
Its purpose is driving to trails (some rather far away) for hunting, fishing, climbing, and just plain fun!
Now for my thoughts and ideas.
I am thinking that I should go with at least a 4.88 since i will be running AT LEAST
33 12.50's I am really thinking about 34 14.50's
Now for you all to continue telling me your experiences...
P.S. My knowledge is limited so please don't blow my mind with extremely technical info, try to break it down for us simpletons...THANKS!!!
