Exclamation Windshield Rust

Hey guys I need some advice. I live in PA and most yotas i can find have at least some rust. I found one yesterday for $500 and im very interested in it but it has some rust. By the way its a 4 runner. Most of the rust i was planning on just repairing by buying new fenders and putting them on but ( and yes theres always a but it had to be to good to be true) theres windshield rust.....now im not an expert on yotas and there rust problems or how to fix them so what kinda advice can you give me about repairing it and how difficult or easy it is.
thanks

Rust around the windshield frame is rather common. It's also a chore to fix since it generally involves cutting the rotten metal out and welding new pieces in. And yes, you have to remove the windshield.

I just finished this repair on my 93, and yup its a PITA!!!!!! The side rails were fine but along the top rail/roof line it was THIN !!!!!! I was able to cut out the the rust and made a new channel and tack welded it in, then a good coat of Duraglas filler and a whole lot of POR-15. Between paint, metal prep, new glass (old windshield was already broken) trim, etc.. ran me about 350 bills to get it back in shape.......If you attempt this repair be very careful with the trim pieces, they ain't cheap !!!!!!!

Ill post up some pictures of this beast tomorrow. The trucks kinda rough but the $500 price tag makes me want it. Also this would be my first car. I have access to most every tool and i am willing to buy some tools within my price range. I also have some friends experienced with welding and just general working on cars so im not real worried about fixing it up. All i really want to know is on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is it to fix and is it worth it. Do you guys also know of neone who has done this and has pictures and stuff posted on here?
thanks
