nvm man sorry i guess i was wrong. When i put it on the ON position all the lights go on except the Gas light. It is supposed to be imbetween the "CHARGE" and the "BRAKE" warning lights. It is yellow and says FUEL. Here is the pic, its off my cell phone so it looks crappy.

edit: BTW a couple months ago i thought i had no light either. It was because i was too scared to let it go to low and then one time i felt brave and waited until it got REALLY low, then it came on for a second and then turned off until it eventually just stayed on all the time. The little meter has to go about 5 centimeters below the line the light to turn on.

you should be able to see if in direct sunlight to know if its there or not.

so differnet size tanks dictate whether or not there is a low fuel light? Tried to look at the dash for it (not in direct sunlight) but couldn't tell... anyone with the grid pattern guage panel from a 89 got a light?

There are TWO sizes for the Gen1 4Runner tanks.

Here's how to tell which one you have

Anyone measure this on a 4Runner? The distance from the seam to the bottom of the tank varies depending on where you take the measurement from (on the passenger's side). This is complicated by the presence of the skid plate/shield below the tank that wraps up around the bottom of it. I've never seen the gas light on my truck come on. The gauge shows empty and I only put about 12 ish gallons in it. Trying to find out if I have 2 gallons or 5 gallons left.

My 89 Gen 1(5spd 22RE) has a Fuel light. Standard cluster, no tach...

I guess I have the 17gal tank cause I got it to take 16.2 Gal once...

Interesting that there are 14 and 17 gal tanks I can't imagine wanting a smaller tank.
