Vacuum tubes connection

Hi all, i went to the mechanic to replace the valves cover seal, it was leaking oil, and he had to remove all the vacuum tubes. Dunno why but i doubt he had placed them back in the right order.
would appreciate some help here just to be sure.
The photo below is to show what i'm talking about.
The tubes are numbered from 1 to 6 and the seventh one has the # mark or tag.

Here's a diagram from the FSM:
http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...74layoutan.pdf

When I get home I'll upload the photo to show how I have it hooked up prior to a valve adjustment.

Honestly, i did not trust the mechanic when he placed them back, he did not seem confident enough.
And yes it is running bad, until two days ago i opened the Air-flow meter and played a bit with the spring adjustment, tried it and it ran much better, this was the first time that i feel it actually accelerate when i hit the throttle.

Are you talking about black top cover on VAFM with ATV sealing it?

I've ran into similar issues. These engines are more complicated than they seem and I've had several mechanics do things wrong on my truck. The more work I do on it, the more bone-head mistakes I find on the truck. As a result, I do all my own work now unless I don't have the tools for it. There's only one shop that I trust around where I'm at and it's because the mechanic has the same exact truck I do and he used to work at a Toyota dealership.

The image is reversed and I meant what year is your truck. Different years are plumbed differently.

VAFM (Vane Air Flow Meter)
If this is what your talking about you need to be careful messing with it.
You can make it too rich or lean. If your having to adjust it you may have another problem. There are some threads or posts on adjusting them, but doesn't seem to common.

It's a Vane type Volumetric Air Flow Meter

Call it the "Doo-Hickey in the box", AFM, MAF, VAFM *shrug* most people will figure out what you're talking about with some context.
...
Screwing around with it's internals is a bad thing, they're supposedly highly engineered and calibrated.

Hook up a mixture guage, and/or let us know if you start getting error codes related to the fuel mixture.

Yes this is the one in the photo, you are right but you just need to be careful while dealing with it, what i did is i marked the location of the teeth ring and moved it forward to lean it, i ran on 1500 rpm idle sometimes, now it is on 800 as said in the fsm. the only thing is that the spring do not brake loose, only then and you have to buy a new one)
I don't want to be optimistic but in fact the car is running much better and probably i'm getting better gas mileage, for example i can run on 20 mph on the third gear and actually get to accelerate which i did not have pleasure of doing it before, i had to shift down to 2nd gear.
What i forgot to mention before is that the previous owner messed with it, the seal was not the factory's, so i had to try to fix it and if not i had to buy a new one. So i think it make sense to save at least 100$ (used one), or approx. 500$ for a new one, don't you think so too???

Read my reply to KTSI for answers and yes i will post if error codes starts popping, but till now and after approx. 100 miles of driving after the new set up, nothing happened, on the contrary it is running much better.
