truck still smells
just bought it
-I removed everything, hosed it out, and added a "damp-rid" to the cabin overnight.
wiped it all down, windexed the windows, and i STILL have a musky-funky smell.
could it be in the headliner
this truck was not a smoking truck, (i did find a couple of cig.butts, but not more than 3)-
- nor was it ever submerged (that i know of ) (it does smell like it was )
, and removed everything, there was no mud in the heater core or other pooling places. however the heater core (when i got it out, i hosed it out too- poured out brown liquid, than clean water came out (*will replace it*)- but no mold that i could see
no rust (or not deep rust) in the cabin, and even found a paper ticket for a marina parking pass dated 1990 !
but the heater core is not inside anymore, and still w/the smell.
could it be the A.C. thingy?
WTF should i do

duct work. a/c could be the source because water forms and drains there. if the heater was bad, the a/c is likely the same. wet+dust+dark=musty moldy smell. if a disinfectant can't can't come into direct contact with the odor source, you are wasting your time.

Turn the fans and a/c on full blast, take a good air freshener and disinfectant (a little bleach mixed in a spray bottle with water) and spray it into the vent right in front off the hood over and over over the course of the day.
Alternate between the air freshener and the bleach..rid my truck of a nasty musky, funky odor..

I would try cleaing all the heater ducting. You may also want to bleach the floor, and remove/replace all the sound deadening material. The smell and rot has permeated into that as well im sure. with the condition your poor trucks interior was in, it likely had a while to stew and soak.

THANKS but THIS is where im at right now.
as you can see, no-mold, just a funk.
thats the heater core houseing in the center, the a/c is next to it. and the blower motor is upstairs (cleaner on the inside, and all the dust/dirt is mostly on the outside.
should i steam the headliner and metal/glass ?
how do i flush the A.C. ?

before i bought mine but after i had looked at it at the used car dealership it sat overnight with the windows down and it rained and smelt bad and after about 2 weeks of the smell not going away and me complaining i got an all new headliner. Only problem now is it takes some muscle to open the sunroof cover.
