Transmission help

hi new here to yotatech, but it seems like there are many knowledgable people browsing the forums so maybe i could get some help.

Just got done putting my new flywheel and clutch assembly together but when i put the transmission up to mate it, it will only go so far before becoming stuck. there is about 1 inch of clearance between the motor and the bell housing and it will not budge any further. Doesnt seem like the bell housing is being obstructed by the body, just seems like the transmission spline wont fully engage into the clutch and flywheel. Im at my wits end (and my arms end as well, that tranny gets heavy after a while). Looking for any suggestions, thank you. : )

did you use a clutch tool to align the splines.

You have a TRANNY JACK?

It takes ALOT of wigglign to get it in

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT
think that you can pull it home with the bolts...

When it goes in - it goes IN - TIGHT - againts the splash shield/engine

It sounds to me like you aren't getting the very tip of the shaft into the pilot bearing. Some of them I've done I needed to shake the transmission around a bit while pushing to get them in that last bit. In my experience you just have to keep fighting with it and it will go. Good luck.

yes i did use the alignment tool, and everything looked like it would line up. im thinking ron has the idea that the tip isnt in the pilot bearing and i will just have to keep fighting it. thx for the ideas, hopefully more will come between now and the next time i check the thread.

i use c-clamps to connect the motor and transmission, one on each side of the bell housing. use just a little pressure then wiggle the transmission. keep it up till it mates to the motor. i said a little pressure, you don't want to break the bellhousing or the pilot bearing.
