Trans-generational Cluster Swap questions

I have a 1987 Hilux (pickup) with an instrument cluster similar to this; http://imgur.com/c6RCg

Recently I acquired an instrument cluster from a 1990 4runner; http://imgur.com/5NjU3

I was wondering if i were possible to swap the two.

It's covered else where.. But anyways..

Pretty sure it's a different size, shape and mounting holes.

That said sure it'll work with a hot knife, some glue, some duct tape and the manuals for both model years.

Well, I guess you're correct. I took out my original cluster and did a test fit. Thre is no way this would ever work.
