Tcase questions

I picked up a forward shift tcase with Marlin 4.7s for $200. I am gonna replace my 2.28 case with it. Not goin duals yet cuz I gotta save up for the adapter. Do I need to drain the gear oil out of the case before I remove it? I cant seem to find anything as far as pulling it out and what to do

SOP drain it. Drain plug on bottom. Fill plug on side.
Should be pretty intuitive.
